Order # L8500, Pin Spacing Drill Jigs

|
The Pin Spacing Drill Jigs are used to create the best spacing for the pins. These jigs are most often used on cracks longer than one inch. When repairing cracks in cylinder heads or any other short crack, pins are usually installed one at a time starting at the bottom, or one end of the crack, and working toward the other end, drilling, tapping and installing pins.
A Pin Spacing Drill Jig will help you drill holes on semi-flat to flat surfaces using the three step method. Drill the first hole free hand, place the locating pin of the jig into the drilled hole and drill the second hole. Next, move the locating pin to the second hole and drill a third hole on the crack. This is repeated throughout the entire length of the crack. Tap and install the pins into the first series of holes. This same procedure is repeated three times or until the entire crack is repaired leaving no spaces remaining between the pins. This method is much faster than one at a time primarily because of the time saved in changing tools. Some of the other benefits include using fewer pins, more precise placement of the pins, straighter holes, less grabbing of the bit as it breaks through and no spaces left between the pins.
